This new design isn’t merely aesthetic; Samsung claims it provides better fit and improved weight distribution for extended wear comfort. The stems serve functional purposes beyond housing microphones—they feature integrated LED lights that glow white to indicate pairing status, help with location tracking, and can even be activated manually for visual effect. 1.1 Construction Materials and Durability Samsung has constructed the Buds3 Pro with premium materials including a nylon-braided exterior for durability and rust-proof aluminum alloy connectors. The earbuds themselves are lightweight at just 5.4 grams each, contributing to extended wear comfort without causing fatigue. The case features a unique transparent lid design that sets it apart from competitors and maintains a compact form factor (60 x 49 x 29mm) that easily fits in pockets. Most impressively, the Buds3 Pro carry an IP57 rating for water and dust resistance, making them more resilient than many competitors (including the AirPods Pro 2’s IP54 rating) and suitable for workouts and occasional exposure to the elements. This rating means the earbuds can withstand immersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes, providing significant peace of mind for active users. 1.2 Fit and Comfort The transition to a stem design appears to address fit issues that some users experienced with previous Galaxy Buds models. Reviewers noted the new design provides a more secure fit for a wider range of ear shapes, with CNET’s reviewers confirming they found them “lightweight and comfortable to wear” even during extended sessions. The package includes multiple ear tip sizes to help users achieve the optimal seal, which is crucial for both sound quality and noise cancellation performance. The ear tip design has been updated with removable nozzles, though some care is needed when changing tips to avoid damaging the thin silicone material. A helpful fit test in the Galaxy Wearable app ensures users can verify they’ve achieved proper seal for optimal performance. 2 Audio Performance and Technical Specifications 2.1 Speaker Configuration and Sound Signature The Galaxy Buds3 Pro feature an advanced audio architecture that represents a significant upgrade from previous models and many competitors. They incorporate a dual-driver system consisting of a 10mm dynamic driver for low frequencies paired with a planar magnetic tweeter for high frequencies, each powered by its own dedicated amplifier. This configuration allows for enhanced clarity across the frequency spectrum, with particular improvement to treble performance. The result is a sound signature that reviewers describe as well-balanced with good stereo separation, punchy bass response, and sparkling treble that reveals detail in music without becoming harsh or sibilant. When compared to their predecessors, the Buds2 Pro, the Buds3 Pro demonstrate superior treble clarity and better bass definition, sounding “cleaner and more accurate overall” according to CNET’s testing. Interestingly, some reviewers even preferred their sound signature to the AirPods Pro 2, noting they’re “a touch more dynamic and sound slightly punchier overall, with more sparkle to their treble.” The Buds3 Pro support 24-bit/96kHz high-fidelity audio through Samsung’s SSC HiFi codec when paired with compatible devices, providing studio-quality sound for discerning listeners. 2.2 Noise Cancellation Performance The active noise cancellation (ANC) on the Buds3 Pro represents a noticeable improvement over previous Samsung models, though they still trail category leaders like Bose and Sony slightly. Samsung has implemented Adaptive Noise Control with Galaxy AI that automatically adjusts cancellation levels based on your environment and activities. The system uses multiple microphones to detect external sounds and generates inverse waves to cancel them out. According to technical tests by Rtings, the Buds3 Pro achieve exceptional noise isolation with a score of 9.2/10, effectively reducing low-frequency noises like airplane engines by approximately 70% and mid-range frequencies like conversations by up to 60%. In real-world testing, reviewers found the ANC particularly effective for reducing constant sounds like HVAC systems or airplane cabin noise, though very sudden, sharp sounds may still partially penetrate. The system includes several intelligent features: Voice Detect: Automatically switches to ambient mode when you begin speaking Siren Detect: Allows emergency vehicle sirens to pass through while maintaining cancellation for other noises Adaptive Adjustment: Continuously optimizes cancellation based on environment and activity 2.3 Spatial Audio and EQ Customization The Buds3 Pro support 360 Audio with head tracking, creating an immersive, spatial audio experience that makes content sound like it’s coming from all around you. This feature works particularly well with compatible video content, creating a theater-like experience. The head tracking functionality adjusts the sound field as you move your head, maintaining a stable audio image relative to your device, though reviewers recommend disabling this feature when walking or moving as it can become disorienting. For audio customization, Samsung provides a ** sophisticated 9-band graphic equalizer** within the Galaxy Wearable app, offering unprecedented control over the sound signature. The app includes several professionally tuned presets (developed by Harman, which Samsung owns) as well as the ability to create and save custom EQ profiles. Additional audio enhancements include: Boost Dialogue: Enhances vocal frequencies in content where voices might be overwhelmed by background effects Loudness Normalization: Levels out volume differences between content Adaptive Sound: Dynamically adjusts audio based on your environment and listening volume. 3 Galaxy AI Integration and Smart Features 3.1 Real-Time Translation and Interpretation One of the most groundbreaking features of the Buds3 Pro is their deep integration with Galaxy AI, particularly the Interpreter function that provides real-time translation during conversations. When paired with compatible Samsung Galaxy devices, this feature allows you to have natural conversations with people speaking different languages—the speaker’s words are translated and delivered through your earbuds almost instantly. The system supports numerous languages and can operate in “listening mode” where it continuously translates a monologue like a lecture or presentation. To activate translation, you simply pinch and hold the earbud while the speaker is talking. Reviewers found this feature “as good as you could possibly expect” though it works best in quieter environments without excessive background noise. 3.2 Intelligent Audio and Environment Adaptation The Buds3 Pro leverage machine learning to continuously analyze your environment and adjust audio settings automatically for optimal experience. The Adaptive Noise Control system doesn’t just toggle between full cancellation and ambient sound—it intelligently finds the right balance based on context. For instance, it might allow some ambient sound through in busy urban environments for safety while providing maximum cancellation in office settings. The system also includes: Voice Detect: Automatically lowers media volume and activates ambient sound when you begin speaking to someone Siren Detect: Specifically allows emergency vehicle sirens to pass through while blocking other noises Adaptive EQ: Adjusts the sound signature based on how the earbuds fit in your ears at any given moment 3.3 Voice Controls and Hands-Free Operation A particularly innovative feature that reviewers highlighted is the built-in voice controls that don’t require a wake word. Instead, you can simply say commands like “volume up,” “next song,” or “answer call” without needing to activate Bixby or Google Assistant first. This creates a more seamless hands-free experience, especially useful when your hands are occupied. The feature works with both Android and iOS devices, though setup requires an Android device with the Galaxy Wearable app. The earbuds also support traditional voice assistants for more complex queries and tasks. 4 Battery Life and Charging The Galaxy Buds3 Pro provide reasonable battery life though not class-leading endurance. According to testing, the earbuds deliver approximately: 5 hours of playback with ANC enabled 6 hours with ANC disabled Up to 30 hours total including charging case These numbers place them slightly behind some competitors like the Sony WF-1000XM5 (up to 8 hours with ANC) but are generally sufficient for most daily use scenarios. The case supports both USB-C wired charging and Qi wireless charging, offering flexibility for different charging setups. Additionally, the Fast Charging technology provides approximately 1 hour of playback from just 3 minutes of charging, helpful in emergency situations when you need quick power. It’s worth noting that enabling certain premium features like the UHQ audio codec or 360 Audio with head tracking may slightly reduce battery life, as these processes require additional processing power and data transmission. For maximum battery conservation during long trips, users may want to disable these features when absolute sound quality isn’t critical. 5 User Experience and Ecosystem Integration 5.1 Controls and Customization The Buds3 Pro offer multiple control methods to suit different preferences. The touch-sensitive blades support: Pinch gestures: Single pinch (play/pause), double pinch (next track), triple pinch (previous track) Long pinch: Toggle between ANC and ambient mode (customizable) Swipe gestures: Slide up/down on either stem to adjust volume These controls are generally responsive and intuitive, though some reviewers noted the pinch detection area is located lower on the stem than might be expected initially. The Galaxy Wearable app allows extensive customization of these controls, including the ability to assign different functions to each earbud’s long-press gesture. 5.2 Seamless Connectivity and Device Switching For users within the Samsung ecosystem, the Buds3 Pro offer impressive seamless connectivity features. They support Auto Switch between devices signed into the same Samsung account, allowing you to move from your Galaxy phone to your Galaxy tablet or Book series laptop without manually disconnecting and reconnecting. The implementation is reportedly smooth and reliable, creating a truly integrated experience across devices. The Buds3 Pro also support Bluetooth 5.4 with LE Audio and Auracast capabilities, future-proofing them for upcoming audio advancements. 5.3 Companion App and Software Features The Galaxy Wearable app serves as the control center for the Buds3 Pro and offers extensive customization options. Beyond the sound customization mentioned earlier, the app provides: Earbud fit test: Verifies proper seal for optimal performance Find My Earbuds: Helps locate lost earbuds by triggering lights and sounds Read notifications aloud: Can read messages from selected apps Gaming mode: Reduces latency for better audio synchronization in games Neck stretch reminders: Prompts you to take posture breaks during long listening sessions Accessibility features: Including left-right audio balance adjustments for those with hearing differences 6 Call Quality and Microphone Performance The Buds3 Pro incorporate advanced microphone technology aimed at ensuring clear voice capture even in challenging environments. They feature Super Wideband (SWB) microphones with AI-based noise reduction that samples your voice 32,000 times per second for exceptional clarity. The system uses a machine learning model trained to analyze ambient noise patterns and separate speech from background sounds, then reconstructs any lost voice bits for natural-sounding communication. 19 Review tests indicated that the microphone performance is good in quiet environments with natural-sounding voice capture, but struggles somewhat in very noisy conditions where it has difficulty separating speech from background noise. The Rtings review gave the microphone a relatively low score of 5.9/10, noting particularly that “noise handling” was a weakness. For typical office or home environments, call quality is more than adequate, but those who frequently make calls from very loud locations might experience some limitations. 7 Comparative Analysis with Competitors Table: Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro vs. Key Competitors Feature Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro Apple AirPods Pro 2 Sony WF-1000XM5 Bose QuietComfort Ultra Price $249.99 (often discounted) $249 $299 $299 ANC Performance Excellent (9.2/10 Rtings) Excellent Outstanding Outstanding Sound Quality Detailed, balanced with punchy bass Balanced, spatial audio focus Warm, bass-forward Balanced, immersive Battery Life (ANC on) 5 hours 6 hours 8 hours 6 hours Water Resistance IP57 IP54 IPX4 IPX4 Special Features Galaxy AI translation, Blade controls Apple H2 chip, Find My LDAC support, DSEE Extreme Bose Immersive Audio Ecosystem Optimization Samsung Galaxy Apple iOS Universal with Android focus Universal When compared specifically to the Apple AirPods Pro 2, the Buds3 Pro offer better water resistance (IP57 vs IP54), more sound customization options, and unique AI features like real-time translation. CD - THE BELFAST SESSIONS

This, our latest collection of songs, was recorded at RedBox Studios in Belfast. We’ve wanted to record there for awhile now and finally the timing was right for all. Dónal O’Connor one of the owners, produced it with expertise, poise, patience and not a few threats, the main one being “no more Guinness till youse get this track right.” Inspirational words indeed! He was somehow able to corral us and steer us in the right direction on each song. I’m sure he’d love to work with us again – maybe! We had a great time all together recording there, and hopefully dear fans you’ll enjoy listening. In these uncertain times remember, music hath charms to soothe a savage breast. I think that was a quote from Paul McCartney, or possibly Bob Dylan. Enjoy!
